Reset your Mac login password. Sometimes a login password needs to be reset—for example, if you have forgotten the login password and can’t use a password hint to remember it. When a user’s login password is reset, a new default keychain is created to store the user’s passwords. Reset GarageBand. Go to Settings GarageBand, then tap Reset GarageBand. When you reset GarageBand, your song files, presets, or patches aren't affected. Other custom settings, such as the 24-bit audio resolution and Multitrack Recording settings, are reset to factory defaults. Back up any songs on your device.

If you are having GarageBand 10.0., remove the GarageBand application from the Applications folder, restart the AppStore, and reinstall garageBAnd from the Purchased tab of the AppStore.

  • If you are having GarageBand '11, check if you are seeing GarageBand '11 on the Purchased tab of the AppStore. Do you?
  • If not: Did GarageBand come preinstalled with MacOS 10.6. or earlier, or with MacOS 10.7 or later?

If MacOS X 10.6 or earlier, you will have System Installer CDs or DVDs. Use these media (the second disk with the bundled applications) to reinstall GaragBand, then use software update.
